Put theory into practice

Internships are a fantastic opportunity for your professional development. For instance, you get to experience working life, apply your academic knowledge and skills in a professional capacity, gain new skills, expand your network, add to your CV.

Before you embark on such a beneficial venture, you’ll need to find a suitable place and get your documents and material in order. We can help you with that, and we sign your internship contract when your internship meets the requirements.

  • How do I find an internship?

Finding an internship requires a proactive attitude, but the initial steps are easy. First get an idea of what you’re looking for, then ask around and look around for options, and then actively search for an internship.

    • Think about what kind of organisation appeals to you: a research institute, an NGO, a commercial company, or maybe even a start-up. Alternatively, consider what types of subjects and fields appeal to you most.
    • Ask family members, friends, colleagues and alumni to help you explore the possibilities. They will undoubtedly know people that you do not yet know and who can help you move forward.
    • Consider whether or not you want to do an internship in the Netherlands or abroad.
    • Take a look at different career sites and UvA Jobboard

Please note that there are additional requirements for non-EU/EEA students. If you have any questions, please contact us via the Digital Student Service Desk.
