In the labour market, your skills and experience are your currency. You pick these up naturally during your studies and internships, and from jobs you have held.
The UvA, your faculty and study associations offer you workshops, trainings, internship opportunities and more to help you improve and gain valuable skills. At university, you learn to adapt to new situations, work in teams, plan and organise, manage stress, and to communicate efficiently with different people. For other skills, you can have a look at our list of workshops.
Depending on your degree, you also attain specific hard and soft skills. Websites like carrièretijger.nl or prospects.ac.uk can give you an overview of which those might be, and they can suggest skills you might want to improve on for your professional career.
During your studies, you’ll meet several opportunities to acquire practical experience. You can join the board or a committee of an EB study association, do an internship, or find a study-related job at Job Board, for instance.
