On this page you’ll find information about going on an internship abroad with the Erasmus+ Grant.

Please keep in mind that the application process for the Erasmus+ Grant may take several months. Therefore, we recommend that you apply at least 3 months before the start of the internship.

What is Erasmus+

Erasmus+ supports traineeships (work placements, internships, and so on) abroad for students who are currently enrolled in higher education institutions at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level, as well as for doctoral candidates. These opportunities are also open to recent graduates.

Mobility

Your time abroad is referred to as your mobility period. You have to take steps before, during and after to take part in the Erasmus+ programme and to receive and keep your grant. We’ll explain the various steps per period here.

  • Before the internship (how to apply)

In order to apply for an Erasmus+ grant, please undertake the following 6 steps:

    1. Send your application to the EB Career Centre through the Digital Student Service Desk. Please include the following information:

    - Your study programme.
    - Your total amount of ECTS credits so far.
    - The beginning and end dates of your internship.
    - The amount of hours each week you’ll spend at your internship.
    - The name and location of your internship company.

If you are not from the EU, please also include:
    - The expiration date of your study visa.

    2. If you are found eligible, the EB Career Centre sends you an application form to fill in. Fill in that Form and send it back to the EB Career Centre. Your Application Form will then be sent to the Central Erasmus Office.

    3. The EB Career Centre then sends you three Learning Agreements: Before, During and After. Fill in the Learning Agreement Before Mobility and have it signed by all three parties (you, your supervisor at your organisation, and the EB Career Centre).

    4. Send the filled in and signed Learning Agreement Before Mobility to the Central Erasmus Office. Note: the deadline for this is 1 month before the start of the internship. The Central Erasmus Office will check the information, and send you a filled in Grant Agreement and an invitation for their Online Linguistic Support (OLS).

    5. Check, fill in and sign the Grant Agreement, and then send it to the Central Erasmus Office.

    6. Do the OLS.

The Central Erasmus Office will check all documents and the OLS and disburse the first grant instalment. With all this sorted, you can go abroad with the Erasmus+ Grant.

Steps during the internship

If the internship goes as expected, no action is required. However, if you want to extend your internship or if something changes to your internship, you need to undertake specific steps.

  • If you want to extend your internship

    1. Get in touch with the EB Career Centre.

We will check if an extension is possible and appropriate for your studies. Subsequently, we will send an email to you and to the Central Erasmus Office with a confirmation of the new end date.

    2. Fill in the Learning Agreement During Mobility and have it signed by all three parties (you, your supervisor at your organisation, and the EB Career Centre).

    3. Send the Learning Agreement During Mobility to the Central Erasmus Office: Note: the deadline for this is 1 month before the end of the internship.

The Central Erasmus Office will check the Learning Agreement and confirm it to you. If your extension is approved, it will also inform you about your updated grant. You may then continue with your internship.

  • If changes occur during the internship

    1. Fill in the Learning Agreement During Mobility and have it signed by all three parties (You, your supervisor at your organisation, and the EB Career Centre).

    2. Send the Learning Agreement During Mobility to the Central Erasmus Office. Note: the deadline for this is 1 month before the end of the internship.

The Central Erasmus Office will check the Learning Agreement and confirm it to you. If necessary, it will also inform you about changes in the size of your grant. You may then continue with your internship.

  • After the internship

Once you’ve have finished your internship, you have to take a few last steps to conclude your Erasmus+ experience.

    1. Do the EU Survey and OLS (which are sent to you during the last days or months of your internship)
    2. Get the ECTS for the internship approved by the EB Career Centre.
    3. Fill in the Learning Agreement After Mobility and have it signed by your supervisor at your organisation.
    4. Send the Learning Agreement After Mobility to the Central Erasmus Office:

The Central Erasmus Office will check your Learning Agreement, EU survey and the OLS. Subsequently, it will disburse the second grant instalment, which marks the end of your Erasmus+ programme.
